Chapter 1 The Gathering Empty Chapter 1 The Gathering

Post by George Fri Jan 10, 2014 5:38 pm

Three weeks...It was three weeks since the task was given. "Find Four others" He said. "You'll know when you see them" He said. No real help from Karveth The Grand Wizard of the Circle. It was to be expected though, the elders are always speaking in riddles and giving only minute amounts of detail as to how a task should be done. Never-the-less, Varen knew what was expected of him and the gravity of it all was far too heavy to just give up.

It had been three weeks since he had left the Elder's Table on the top level of the Magi's Tower with his new status as Red Wizard and his task to halt the end of the Light and he had yet to find those he sought. His travels had brought him here, to the city of Varfallen, a dangerous place for the likes of him since it was placed just beyond the border between the southern and the northern territories where the forest gave way to the sands of the desert Basil. It was here that he hoped to find those he was looking for at long last and prevent the need to travel any further south.

By the time he had reached the inn and had his exhausted horse, FarRunner, placed in the care of the stable master, the sun had descended from view and left this land in darkness. No stars ever shone anymore, a sign only those of the Circle would be able to read as the growing Darkness that threatened the world. Others would probably not pay much mind to it, dismissing it as cloud coverage if they bothered to pay it any mind at all.

Veran makes his way into the Sand Stone Inn, deciding to sate his appetite and thirst before purchasing a room. Besides, if he was lucky he may see the very group he meant to locate here in the tavern. Taking a seat he removes his hat and sets it atop his staff, leaning it against the back of his seat and casting a simple holding spell to keep the makeshift hat-rack from falling, before flagging down the innkeeper with a gentle smile and questioning about the prices for a room as well as a hot meal with a flagon of chilled ale. "That'll 20 coins." Was the response, an answer that nearly made Veran choke. The last place only charged 10 for a room and a meal and it was much nicer than this inn. Never-the-less, he paid the fee with all but a small hand-full of coins he had left and turned in his seat to observe those around him.

Chapter 1 The Gathering Empty Re: Chapter 1 The Gathering

Mirza dusted his hands off. Stealing coin purses had never been so easy. Back in Al'Rasheed people guarded their coin purses closely. Outside the desert a man seemed to wear his coin purse on his sash and expects it to be there in the morning. Mirza smiled as he made his way to the corner of the Inn. He inspected the small pouch. His smile quickly faded as he reached in and counted the coins. 18 gold. Mirza sighed. He could see why a man would pay less attention to his money when he had little to nothing anyways.

In Al'Rasheed it was much more difficult to snag a coin purse, but Al'Rasheed was a rich and glorious city. The people there were wealthy and lived harmoneous lives. Stealing there was challenging, but rewarding. Here, beyond the desert sands, it was simple, yet yeilded little more than a cold meal and a dissapointingly uncomfortable bed.

It was just short of the Inn's fee. Mirza tossed the empty sack away and pocketed his bounty. He needed a better score, something to truly feed him. He had been in this town for a fort night and found that the town, and the people who frequented the inn were mostly bandits and mercenaries. There were some people that called this place home, but they generally stuck to themselves. The people here knew the totem pole of society and stayed in their place, but the ruffians that passed through here were much more bold and paraded arouond as though this place owed them something.

He scanned the inn. Searching for something outside of the usual riff-raff. It appeared he would be sleeping with Anta until a peculiar man walked in. He was not too tall, and wore robes of deep red. He had a wide brimmed hat, a beard that would make a Basil sorcerer gitty, and carried a funny looking staff. An odd fellow Mirza thought, but definitely out of the ordinary. He watched the man enter, take a seat at the bar and pay happily. His coin purse looked a lot heavier than the others in this place.

He approached the man, took a seat next to him and waved the bartender down. "I'll take some rum and a hot meal." He said.

"12 gold." the man said without emotion. The bartender clearly was not a man who took pride in his occupation.

Mirza swalloed hard and handed over the gold, he wanted this red fellow to feel comfortable, so Mirza had to appear as though he had more than just 18 gold. The bartender poured the Rum and slid it down the bar to Mirza. Mirza grabbed the cup firmly and turned to the red man.

"What brings a fellow like you to a town like this?" He said confidently, taking a sip of his rum.

"STOP MOVING!" Katie narrowed her eyes at the black and white stallion. He was protective of her...when she was on the ground at least but now since she was trying to tame the wild horse, he turned into a psycho. The stallion snorted as katie jumped on his back.

He grunted and tried to buck.
"Damn you horse!" Katie screamed as she gripped his mane. The mustang tossed his head and started to rear. Katie gripped the reins and yanked his head to the side. He froze as she forced his head to touch his side.

"Knock it off! " Katie growled. She looked straight into the horse's eyes. He was scared and not sure what to do. Katie let out a sigh. she took in a deep breath Remember what Trevor taught you. she looked back at the horse.
"Abla Kela (calm)..." Katie lowered her hand onto his forehead. She closed her light blue eyes.

"Abla Kela (calm)" She repeated softly. She felt the horse relax under her. He closed his eyes. The two sat there, in the middle of the woods, for a while. Katie soon opened her eyes and he opened his.

"Hatito (hello)" She whispered to the horse, her grip slowly began to loosen. He looked into her eyes. She saved his life... he was stuck in ropes which was tangled around his legs and he was left to die, and she saved him.
~Hello~ His eyes shined.

Katie finally did it....she could now read his eyes... Katie smiled at him. She released her grip and gently kicked his sides.
"Walk on." she asked politely. The horse nodded his head and started to walk. He had a nice gait and a long stride. The suns's rays shined threw the tree leaves, leaving dapples that danced on his coat.

"What should i call you?" Katie asked the horse. He remained silent. Katie soon felt him begin to tense up.
"don't you-" The horse took off, tucking in his head and bucking wildly. He snorted and jumped knocking katie off his back.
"RANGER!" Katie screamed as she landed on her back with a loud thump. Her breath escaped her and she let out a soft moan.

Ranger trotted over and looked at her. He had a wave of guilt in his eyes and he lowered his head and sniffed her face then stopped and looked straight into her eyes.
~Sorry~ His eyes reflected

Chapter 1 The Gathering Empty Re: Chapter 1 The Gathering

Arsia had been lost in thought when she finally felt the movement of the cage cease. She slid to the opposite wall, straining her eyes through a tiny slit. It took some time for her eyes to adjust, but it made no difference. Blackness, with small flashes of a yellow and red glow filled her vision. She could only assume that the Caravan had stopped for the night, and started a small fire. Her Eyes could not register anything else, they had been accustomed to the darkness for far too long.

"How long has it been?" Arsia thought grimly, and in an instant, a flood of vivid memories slammed into her. Red, Red everywhere, in all the battles Arsia had been, she had never seen so much blood. Friends that she had known her entire life lied still, their bodies not just torn open, but used for carnal activities. No one of Clan Vuur died that day with honor. They were eviscerated and merciless demolished. Arsia's head fell into her hands, her eyes near the edge of tears.

Arsia felt an extreme sense of failure and loneliness. She had been utterly defeated, culminating in the entire massacre of her Clan. Her Over-Confidence had got the best of her, she was completely unprepared for such a surprise attack.

Arsia shook her head, shaking herself of these thoughts. She couldn't feel sorry for self anymore, no one else would. She had to keep a clear mind if she was to escape her captors. Wiping her eyes, she ran her hands through her coarse, rough, and filthy hair.

Her Slavers were sly and intelligent, only because they were still alive. They made sure she had no breathing room to escape, they were fully aware of how dangerous she was.
The Cage Arsia had inhabited for some time was incredibly uncomfortable, it wasn't long enough to stand up, and it wasnt wide enough to lay flat. She could only sleep in a fetal position. Arsia's back was sore and pounding, she couldnt remember the last time she properly stretched.

Muffled sounds returned Arsia to the present, she had heard more sounds then usual.

Over the course of the journey she felt she had formed an intimate relationship with her captors. She listened to every word they spoke, and the were not forgiving with their vocabulary. She picked up on their mannerisms, just on how they spoke. They seemed to be from the city Of Al'Rasheed, how someone could live in that desert wasteland was beyond Arsia.

Jual, the youngest of the Slavers, was incredibly cocky and loud; this was his first job, and he boasted about the big Purse Arisa would garner. He never stopped talking, his high pitched voice pierced Arsia's Ears. Arsia would rather endure the Kutal,(A Clan Vuur Instrument that she despised) then listen to Jual.

Lual, The older Brother of Jual was not as loud as Jual, but he was worse. All Lual would speak about was the things he would do to Arsia if he had the chance, sometimes wishing he was wealthier so he could purchase her himself.

Last left Kubo, the Quietest of the bunch, Kubo seemed to be the serious leader of Jual and Lual. Most of his time was spent Telling off Jual for his inexperience and Speaking to Lual in hushed tones that Arsia Couldn't understand.

Of the three, Arsia felt that Kubo would be the only challenge to her once she escaped, but it made no matter for all three would be felled by her. It was only a matter of time before one of them got sloppy and careless.

Arsia heard more then the voices of her three Captors. They were extremely muffled and she couldnt make out any of the words. Arsia assumed they had come across a small town or inn, because usually the three never left her. This was a first.

Their first and last Mistake.

Chapter 1 The Gathering Empty Re: Chapter 1 The Gathering

Post by George Wed Jan 15, 2014 10:03 pm

Typical crowd for any inn or tavern, especially one so far to the south as he was. It was of little surprise to Veran that a vast majority of those here were common thugs and mercenaries seeking refuge between jobs. Just this type of thing is what Veran had come to expect in his travels, though he did wish he could find at least one that showed some promise and an amount of skill that would be able and willing to help his mission.

Just as he was starting to slip off deeper into thought and loose himself to the world around, a voice snapped him back. A male appearing to be out of the desert judging by the complexion of his features. This was strange since he had heard from others that the desert folk only travel this far north when accompanying trade caravans, though this man seemed to be alone, or at least the only of his kin in the tavern. And still he had the nerve to ask what a man like him was doing here. "Begging your pardon but I could ask the same of you. You seem to be rather out of place." His response was not so much as to wave the man off as to state a simple observation. He hadn't expected to meet one from Basil so soon.

A thought struck him, one that most would accredit to paranoia, but Veran had learned from past mistakes. Without making much of a move a spell was cast over the coin purse hanging from his belt, one that would cause whoever had opened the purse without first dispelling the pouch, a burst of blinding light as well as a deafening sound would issue out of it. Simple and non-lethal, however he lacked the time to prepare anything better.

Covering the slight movement of his hand to cast the spell with a turn in his seat to face the bar once again he turns his face to the man who had spoken to him. "And to answer your question, I am here on...personal business." He adds, offering a kindly smile as the meal he had ordered finally made its way to him.

Chapter 1 The Gathering Empty Re: Chapter 1 The Gathering

Post by Joey Thu Jan 16, 2014 10:44 am

Miza looked to the red man. He smiled, as wide and friendly as a noble in court. He offered his hand as to perform the customary Basil greeting. As he did so, he responded.

"As am I. Salam Alaikom. I am Mirza." He said with confidence.

As he introduced himself he started to lean his hand in close to the man's coin purse. His fingers moved cautiously and he could just about feel the top of the coin purse when suddenly the door to the inn swung open. A loud crash rang through out the tavern as the door hit the wall.

Silence followed. Every head in the inn turned to see who had made such an effort to make an entrance. Three bold Basil men. Merchants from the look of them. It was very uncommon to see people of the Basil outside the desert, unless they were with some sort of trade caravan. These men matched the descriptions perfectly. The eldest, and likely the father, had a long beard and broad gut. He wore typical Basil clothing of white, gold and sapphire, and had many pieces of Basil jewelery on. He was followed by what appeared to be his two sons. Each was skinny and each was armed with scimitars that had hilts of gold.

Mirza locked eyes with the fat man. He stared at Mirza intently. They studied eachother and after a few seconds Mirza recognized this man. He bore the sigil of the Abeed family, a famed merchant family that dabled in everything from carpets to slaves to slaves hidden in carpets. This man worked for them and he was scum.

The fat man's eyes turned from confidence to curiosity as he wobbled up to Mirza. He stood before Mirza and reached out to touch Therafim. Mirza jerked away and put on a defensive expression.

"I know that blade. Where did you get it?" The man asked as he stroked his beard.

"Maybe I found it." Mirza stated.

"Do you even know what it is you carry?" The man paused. His eyes winced and he drew closer to Mirza. "I recognize you boy, but from where I cannot decipher exactly." he took a deep breath and leaned back a bit. "Those eyes..." he trailed off.

Mirza suddenly drew Therafim. It was one swift motion, few eyes could follow it. Before the man could finish his sentance Therafim had met his throat. The man's eyes turned to panic.

Mirza brought his face close the fat man's "I think it best you take your friends here and return to your caravan. There are other towns before you reach the desert. Fortune would favor you should turn away from this one." Mirza's voice was low and intense.

In the back of his mind Mirza knew what he risked here. He thought of killing the man and his sons. If this fat Abeed merchant figured out who Mirza was, he would alert the courts and his father would unleash his Hassansins. Mirza could not return to Al'Rasheed. He would not return to Al'Rasheed.

Before Mirza could make his move the man showed a burst of surprising agility. He ducked back and turned swiftly. Mirza swiped with Therafim, but only struck air.

"Capture him boys!" He shouted and bolted out the doorway.

He must have figured it out. He had to die. Mirza leapt from his chair and took a defensive stance. Both sons respectively drew their scimitars and prepared for combat.

Katie groaned and rolled over on her stomach. she shooked her head and slowly lifted her self up. Ranger started at her, His eyes guilty. She growled at him and started to reach for his reins. Ranger snorted then took off.

"I aint playing this!!" She watched the horse run. She grunted then took off running after the horse. Ranger bucked and took off running faster. his reins where flapping wildly as he ran, the stirrups kicked his sides causing him to panic.

"If you stop-" Katie almost tripped over a root. She caught herself and looked at the trees. She smiled to herself and ran up one, grippin the branch with both hands and hauling herself up. She jumped from tree to tree, almost like a deer threw the woods. she was graceful, yet fast and slick. she started to catch up to the panicked horse.

Katie leaped off the branch into her saddle.
"Got you!" She laughed. Ranger snorted and reared up. he started to buck widely. Katie gripped on. This mustang was a hard one. He threw his head down and tried to roll. Katie jumped off as he rolled on his back and when he went to stand she climbed on. Ranger finally stopped. His legs shaking and his breath rappid.

Katie remained on his back. she had head head facing down at his withers and her, one pretty bun, was down falling over. She took a deep breath and looked up. She was in a small town in front of a Tavern... where the door was wide open. She rolled her eyes and kicked gently for Ranger to walk. He followed her orders and walked straight to a horse post.

Katie dismounted and tied his reins.
"Dont do anything stupid.." she flipped back her hair and put on her her black cloak, flipping her hood on. She started to walk in the tavern and stopped as she saw a young man in a defensive stance and a couple others around him.
"This is why i dont come to town anymore...damn Bar fights." she drew her bow.

Chapter 1 The Gathering Empty Re: Chapter 1 The Gathering

Post by Hawk Sun Jan 19, 2014 1:38 pm

Kubo hurriedly ran outside, passing a strange woman on her way into the tavern, a bow upon her back. Out of breath, he hustled back to his caravan. Kubo was nervously looking over his shoulder when he ran into something hard. Dazed, He bounced onto ground, landing on his bottom. When his eyes adjusted to an unexpected brightness, he finally saw what he had run into.

"No!" He screamed, realizing the horror before him. He tried to scramble away, but at the moment his body failed him. His mouth stood agape, his eyes wide.

It was Arsia.

Kubo's Caravan was ablaze, as if it had just been raided. But there was only Arsia before him.

"Impossible!" Kubo thought.

Before Kubo could come to his senses, Arsia slammed her left foot upon Kubo's groin, preventing him from crawling away.

"It's finally nice to meet you, Kubo!" Arsia said Grimly, she could only imagine what was going through the mans mind. She twisted her foot upon Kubo, sending him into a squirming fit.

Finally, he spoke through wheezing breaths, "How?! How?! how?"

Arsia could only grin as she brought the enchanted gauntlets to his face, the shackles looked as if the runic expressions upon them had been rubbed down to nothing. Leaning close, Arsia nearly screamed her answer,

"When you cuff me with Suppression shackles, make sure the Runes aren't on the outside, do you think me stupid for not knowing these are of the Clan Neem." Arsia spat.

Clan Neem was known for their strong enchantments, but their shoddy workmanship. All the clans knew that to get rid of a Clan Neem enchantment, was to destroy the runes they placed upon them. The people of Clan Neem were only efficient at one thing, and that was magic. They weren't very bright about anything else.

Arsia's body was incredibly warm and naked, save for the gauntlets. Smoke danced and twisted from her, it seemed as if her dark skin had become an even darker hue. Arsia looked like she was caked with soot. She was a sore sight, and an even sorer odor. She hadnt bathed in weeks. She must have looked like a filthy Basilian. She sighed deeply.

Arsia grunted as she grabbed Kubo by his wealthy collar, bringing him to his feet. Kubo had just come to the realization that Arsia was nude, which frightened him even more. She looked savage.

"Where is my AXE!?" she Barked, her hands slightly tightening around Kubo's throat.

For some strange reason, the big man let out a small grin, which erupted into a rather coarse laugh.
Arsia's patience grew thin as she started to shake the main violently.
"This is no time for games, TELL ME!" She growled as her hands started to glow. Small wisps of vapor stemed from Kubo's neck.

Kubo again squirmed from Arsia's touch, but she held him fast, he finally gave in as he choked his answer, the heat becoming unbearable.

"Did you honestly think we'd transfer the Mighty Arsia with her mighty Axe!" Kubo laughed Sarcastically.

Arsia stood stunned, she had completely forgotten she had lost her Axe, Rinjani, in the massacre. She had lost it to War Chief Cajii Of Clan Wujh. He bested her in combat and humiliated Arsia in front of all the Clans. And instead of granting her an honorable death like all Barbarians deserve, he put her in slaveitude.

Arsia's eyes burned with hatred and disgust, not only at Kubo, but at herself. If she hadnt been so focused on her disgraced failure, she could have escaped weeks ago.

But there was no more time for self pity.

There was now only time for revenge.

Arsia smiled, as she flexed her incredibly sore muscles, her cage had left her restless.

"How do you like your meat, Kubo, Pink?" Arsia whispered as little sparks jumped off her body, her body glowed with heat. A devilish grin crawled across her dark face,

"Or Black?"

Chapter 1 The Gathering Empty Re: Chapter 1 The Gathering

Post by George Mon Jan 20, 2014 5:18 pm

That same smile remained on the elderly man's face as the other introduced himself. He honestly wouldn't have stopped the man had he succeeded in taking the purse from his belt, mostly because he wanted to see the expression on the man's face when his enchantment was triggered. It was all the same when the doors to the inn burst open, giving way to three cocky looking males, one of whom was fat with what could only be assumed to be ill gotten spoils.

Veran had yet to introduce himself to the man before being so rudely interrupted by the sudden outbreak. It was when the fat man waddled his way over to the man he had been talking to. As a precaution of what was inevitable, Veran's hand moves to the staff still resting to the side of his seat, keeping his face on the two as they speak in harsh tones to one another. "And here I was hoping to enjoy a meal in peace." He sighs before allowing the events to unfold before him.

Swords were drawn and as Mirza's blade was brandished a slight pressure came to Veran's attention. A magic blade? Strange indeed. Not something you see every day. This peaked Veran's interest, though the opportunity to ask about it was scarce at the present moment so it would have to wait.

One of the men had rushed outside, the reasons were unknown, but judging from the unfolding situation, he had the right idea. It wasn't long after the man and vanished into the street outside the tavern when the smell of smoke reached Veran's nostrils, no telling what the cause was except for something outside. This was getting out of hand but fast.

A soft sigh was heaved as Veran stands slowly from his seat at the bar, staff held in his hand still. "I do believe that is quite enough." He mutters before raising his staff in one hand and tapping it lightly against the floor. Upon impact a flash of blinding light issued forth from the staff, expanding from the focus point and radiating through the windows to extend even into the street, though less intense outside than in. This light was harmless aside from being intense enough to cause those who looked directly at it to loose their eyesight temporarily, and those not looking directly at it would have their vision only blurred. "That is quite enough!" Veran repeats as the light begins to fade from his staff, his voice seeming to be amplified by five times its usual volume...

Chapter 1 The Gathering Empty Re: Chapter 1 The Gathering

Post by Joey Tue Jan 21, 2014 12:46 pm

Mirza's vision became blurred. He could make out shapes, but not much else. He tried to focus on the shine of Basil scimitars, but his eyes were taking their sweet time recovering.

The red man had stood and thrown his magicks around. He had yelled to stop, but Mirza knew if this man and his sons ever made it back to Al'Rasheed that Mirza would be hunted to no end by the Hassansins. He could not allow this to happen.

His vision was starting to come back to him and he could see the two brothers still staggering from the red man's spell. Mirza took advantage of this and swiped at one man's neck. Blood sprayed as Therafim moved through his flesh as easily as it did through air.

The man gurgled and dropped to his knees; A crimson water fall flowing from his neck. Mirza leapt forward and drove Therafim through the gut of the second man. Red mist sprinkled a woman holding a bow behind him. Mirza withdrew Therafim from the man's innards and pushed him to the ground with the steel gauntlet upon his free hand.

Mirza bolted out the door. He could hear a thud as the second son hit the ground. The night was warm and Mirza could smell smoke in the air. The fat merchant was nowhere in sight. Mirza stopped for a moment and looked around hesitantly. There were footprints in the muddy soil that mimiced the pointed shoes of a Basil nobleman. Conveniently (or Inconveniently, Mirza had yet to determine) the footprints pointed in the direction of the smoke.

Mirza ran, carefully placing his feet as he ran through the moist roadway. He eventually found himself at a Basil caravan set ablaze.

The Scene before him was gruesome. The camels had all been killed and everything that once stood was now crashing to the grouond in a ball of cackling pyro. Goods burning. Gold burning. Everything burning. Mirza would have a tough time looting this place after the fat man was slain.

As Mirza approached the caravan he noticed the silohouette of a woman standing over a fat body. Her hands were shining with fire and she looked down to him. Mirza crossed his arms and watched. It appeared this merchant had made other enimies and was fated to never return to the glorious city of Al'Rasheed.

Katie watched a man run past her.
" excuse- " a bright light was castes and Katie's sight went blurry. She stumbled threw the door and fell into a closet, full off buckets and brooms. A bucket fell on her head.

The small girl closed her eyes. Bright light. She shook her head and remained on the ground. She finally stood up and begain to walk out. Blood splattered on her.
"Fantastic" she managed to mumble. She wiped away the blood and looked at her hands
A horrid memory shot back into her head. Her mother, laying in her small hands.

"No " she closed her eyes. She was unaware of the people around her. Her hearing went out and her sight was gone. The image was imprinted in her head. Katie open her eyes. Her heart pounded hard in her chest. This was not her place to fight. Katie looked up, a man...a red one and a young human.

Katie looked at him for a second, then simply turned and became to walk out.

"Always blood" she stopped and looked out the door

Chapter 1 The Gathering Empty Re: Chapter 1 The Gathering

Post by Hawk Tue Jan 28, 2014 8:18 pm

Feelings of anger and hatred left Arsia, leaving only rage. Rage is a dangerous feeling for barbarians to have. They become unconsolable, Uncontrollable, and unreachable. They become a violent host of themselves; barbarians do not discriminate, they just attack. They just Destroy

Dark red liquid splattered the air as punch after punch laid into the large merchant. Arsia was on top of Kubo, who was laying prone, his body twitching whenever a heavy blow landed. The horrifying smell of burnt flesh filled Arsia's nostrils, which made her attacks quicken.

Arsia did not stop til she felt the hard ground upon her fists; blood, brain bits and earth mixed into a ghastly goulash.

Arsia threw her arms and head upwards and emitted a victorious, grisly roar. Defiantly, she stood on her feet, surveying her surroundings. The area was littered with small fires and destroyed caravans. And a lone man with a sword. Arsia's eyes narrowed.

Reflexively she wiped her bloodied mouth with her forearm. Wisps of flames, and sparks orbited her body in a frenzy. She tensed her body, readying to lunge. She was coiled fury, as she let out another hideous growl.

She Charged.

Mirza stared as some barbaric dirty figure pounded the fat merchant's face into meat chunks. Mirza gritted his teeth and cocked his head in disgust. Mirza had killed many men, and left many bodies to rot on the ground, but he never showed any of his opponents such brutality. He preferred to think of those he had slain as opposing duelists. He always tried to give swift deaths. What Mirza saw before him was pure barbaric rage.

The figure slowed as the fat merchant's head became nothing more than a red puddle. Mirza studied this person. It was a female, though she was larger than any female he'd ever encountered and more muscular than most men he'd encountered. She roared and stood. She paused and wiped her mouth of blood. She appeared to be a slave of some sort, no surprise there, as she was actively killing a merchant of the Abeed family. He peered into her eyes. They were still filled with anger and rage, and her whole body seemed to begin to catch fire.

She charged. Mirza took a breath, he was surprised by this. Perhaps his Basil garb that he wore led her to believe he was with the caravan. Mirza quickly took a defensive stance and readied for the brute to reach him. She was mad, and her steps mimicked her madness. They were wild and uncoordinated. He watched them as he approachedd.

A simple side step. He shifted to the left of the charging berserker, careful to keep Therafim between him and the woman. Mirza could feel the air brush past him, the gust rustling his loose clothing. He imagined the intense heat of it all. It was probably very strong and may even have burned, but Therafim's enchantments kept his own temperature in homeostasis. Mirza raised his gauntlet close to his face so as to deflect unexpected blows.

"Calm yourself barbarian. I am not your enemy!" he exclaimed.

Chapter 1 The Gathering Empty Re: Chapter 1 The Gathering

Post by Tori Sat Mar 08, 2014 12:15 am

At first the young girl remain  on the side of the doorway then she peered around the corner. Curiosity was bad... Trevor told her this but yet she was young and also stupid at times...
Katie watched the other woman she was older at least in her 20's... and the man maybe in his 20's. He was really fit and looked like he could handle himself. But the lady...she was so...so... enraged, angry for some sort of reason

but why? Katie looked at the guy, maybe she should step in and help the guy. She hadn't actually killed anyone before... just animals. Katie looked down at her bow.. her hands starting to shake,
No, Rangers are not afraid! she looked up to see the woman charging..
"Calm yourself barbarian. I am not your enemy!" the man said. Katie stepped out from the corner and pulled up her bow and aimed, her arrow in place.

"Leave him be!" Katie growled her eyes narrowed as she stood, now in the doorway, her black arrow dripping from some type of poison.  The girl only stood 5'3 and wasn't all that scary looking... Katie swallowed as she started to think as flames caught her ice blue eyes
Maybe this was a bad idea...

Chapter 1 The Gathering Empty Re: Chapter 1 The Gathering

Arsia's vision narrowed as she sped past the male. Her mind registered that the man was fast, but she knew she was quicker. Arsia's feet dug into the earth, spinning in place, bringing her whole body toward her defendant. Her torso twisted as she brought one of her long, slender legs hurtling towards his back. Her heel erupted in a small cadre of flickering flames as they connected to the back of the male. Arsia planted her feet firmly upon the ground, raising her fists in front of her. Steam and smoke emanated from Arsia, her eyes ablaze.
Her soul on fire.

(Bout time!!!)
Seeing as his command had failed, Veran let out a sigh and a shake of his head as he presses his fingertips to his temple and giving that slow facepalm of a disappointed person. He had made his way outside, able to pretty much guess where the young man had gone from the smoke and the commotion from just around the corner of the bar. He walks casually up towards where it was all coming from, using his staff as a walking stick as he does. He stops once he was standing next to the younger woman, aiming a bow into the fray.

"Now now, child. Best not to interfere." He says calmly with a warm smile as he rests a hand gently on the girl's wrist to lower her arm before his attention once again returns to the duel between the pickpocket and the barbarian. From what he had seen...he had found what he was looking for.

A swordsman, good on his feet and wielding a magic blade. A barbarian, fierce and unrelenting. And even this young woman next to him who so bravely tried to step into a dire situation to quell what was happening.

He gives a very subtle nod before tapping his staff on the ground, a faint flash of light not near as intense as the first became visible as a blink spell was cast, his destination landing him between the two combatants where his staff once again strikes the ground, this time a repulsion spell was cast. A bubble of light surrounds the old man, expanding outward rapidly enough to knock the two off their feet on impact though not forcefully enough to do any sever amount of damage. "I said ENOUGH!" He bellows again, remaining in place between the two, his chest heaving with the exertion of the two spells he had cast.

Chapter 1 The Gathering Empty Re: Chapter 1 The Gathering

She was quick, wild and unpredictable. She showed no pattern other than rage. It had surprised Mirza when she kicked him, but in her wild, undisciplined state she had left herself wide open for a counter attack. He stumbled forward, but managed to maintain his footing. As he shifted his wait he threw it behind him and brought Therafim in close. He swung the sword in a wide arc and just as the blade was to connect with the barbarian's neck a flash of light blinded Mirza.

He could feel a magical force push him back with great strength. He lost his feet and found himself tumbling away from his opponent. Mirza was able to redirect his fall and rolled to his feet once more. In a duel of the Raks Al'Mawt it was of the utmost importance to always maintain steady footing. The ground itself was a defensive tool of a duelist and constant contact meant that one was that much safer.

Mirza looked up to see the red wizard from the tavern. He sighed loudly and dropped his guard. Mirza placed his hand on his hip and twirled Therafim playfully.

"And what could you possibly want at a time like this wizard? Can't you see I'm trying to teach this barbarian some discipline."

Katie held her breath and was ready to fire when a older man took her wrist and gently made her lower her bow. She stared at him in shock when all of a sudden he started to do something, not knowing what to the girl quickly slipped out the door and hide behind the wall.

a force blew out the door, the girl's hair blew widly past her her.
"holy-" she closed her covered her mouth then peered back in and walked behind the wizard she peeked pasted the red wizard. she looked at the other two and started to giggle as the young man got up, twirled his sword and simply said
"And what could you possibly want at a time like this wizard? Can't you see I'm trying to teach this barbarian some discipline."
Katie then realized she was sticking her nose is someone else's business. Her blue eyes went wide and she quickly exit out of the building
"Go go go, keep walking katie" she grabbed her stallion and mounted quickly and then kicked his sides and went into a full gallop. The stallion snorted and bucked
"Just run!" she screamed as they entered the forest...
"Damn it!" she growled
"i left my bow in the door way...." she tried to stop her horse but he was to busy running that she couldn't get him to stop. Oh well.... is just her father's bow... no biggy....

Chapter 1 The Gathering Empty Re: Chapter 1 The Gathering

Arsia hit the ground hard. Already unbalanced by her kick, the pursuing mysterious shockwave knocked her to the earth. Consciousness and cognition soon returned to Arsia, who let out a surprised gasp. She didnt know where she was, who these two gentlemen in front of her were, or where her clothes had gone. Instinctively Arsia's arms covered her generous chest, her breasts feeling oddly warm. Holding herself tightly, Arsia jumped to her feet, balancing on the balls of her feet, like a feline ready to pounce. She angrily glared at the old man in crimsom, and darted at him like a rocket.

She had to leave whatever this was, and fast, she Thought.

She slammed her shoulder into the man in red, hoping to push him into the male behind him. Reeling from the hit, Arsia Bolted to the nearest forest Tree Line, where she would make her escape. Arsia's chest pounded and heaved as her heavy footsteps hit the ground; she was the fastest runner in her Clan, she could even keep pace with the Urdnot, the majestic yet nimble large feline.

Arsia did not know what was going on, but she had to find a way back to her Clan.

Chapter 1 The Gathering Empty Re: Chapter 1 The Gathering

Finally something he had done had worked to get someone's attention! Veran turns his head to face the young male he had run into in the tavern, his features having faded from the stern look of an elder disciplining a child to that relaxed and carefree expression he normally took when addressing others. The male's display struck the older male as a childish display of a proud warrior. It was to be expected though. A light chuckle escapes his lips accompanied by a shake of his head. "I apologize but teaching a barbarian discipline is about the same as trying to teach an infant to cast spells" He says simply. Before he could answer and address the group as a whole to explain himself, he found himself stumbling toward the one he was speaking to as a sharp blow from the shoulder of the barbarian who had seemed to come to her senses only to bolt away.

Veran sighs audibly and pinches the bridge of his nose before realizing that the other had run as well. "Well...so much for a simple task." He mutters before turning back towards the younger male. "I'll have to explain later. First I shall give you my name, then I must ask for your assistance in recovering the other two." He says before giving about as much of a bow as his old body would allow. "My name is Veran, Veran the Red. Now follow me if you wish, otherwise I will find you once I've found the others." He adds as he turns and walks back towards the tavern, glancing towards the entrance to find the young woman's bow. He stops, going to pick the weapon up before setting off in the direction of the barbarian, figuring it would be easier to find her first since she was on foot with nothing to protect her feet from the rough ground.

Chapter 1 The Gathering Empty Re: Chapter 1 The Gathering

Mirza ran up to Veran. He contemplated whatever the wizard wanted and decided that it was far too much effort. He did not speak of pay or any compensation, just that he needed help. Mirza was not the kind to trust magic. He was not the kind to trust shifty wizards with flashy spells. It meant more trouble than it was worth and Mirza's instincts about these sort of things were never wrong. He had spent years dodging authority back in Al'Rasheed and he wasn't about to hand himself over now.

"I'm sorry Veran, but I must decline. As entertaining as this may sound, I just don't have the time for chasing barbarians and strange girls. Now if you will excuse me." Mirza bowed, in only the way a Basil noble could. Mirza turned and vanished.

Seymor leaned up against the building watching the scene before him. An enraged barbarian unable to control her anger. A Basil sword dancer. A red wizard, trying to gather a group to aid him in whatever quest he was given by the Mage's Circle. And the one Seymore found most intriguing was the young ranger who seems to be having difficulty controlling her steed. Seymore elected that he would work with the red mage. He had worked with the Circle of Magi before and he knew they didn't dispatch a red mage for no reason. Perhaps he would get the chance to slay a necromancer or witch.

Seymore observed as the red mage ran after the barbarian woman. He guessed that the mage would be busy with that, so Seymore decided to round up the ranger girl as the sword dancer appeared to be completely uninterested in whatever the wizard had to offer.

She ran off into the forest on her steed. The horse appeared eager to run and show off its speed. A mustang of that caliber would be difficult to catch up with, but easy to track. A that speed they would not have time to cover their tracks. Sloppy, if you wished to remain undetected, but necessary if one needed to escape. He noticed that the wizard had taken her bow. That would be good incentive to return here. Seymore stepped off and began to follow the girl's tracks. He wasn't sure how fast she was running, but they wouldnt be able to keep a full gallop for long.

Ranger bucked as he raced threw the forest. His powerful legs stretched out from under him, his ears flat against his head. Katie held onto the horse's reins. it took her a bit to get her feet into the stirrups but once in she became one with the animal. Katie didn't want to be near them. Fire? magic? a crazy sword person?

The girl slowed her horse down.
"Easy buddy" she whispered as the horse stopped. He was breathing hard and sweating.
"Alright lets get you cooled off". Katie dismounted her horse and grabbed his reins and  led him to a pond. The girl smiled as she untacked the sweating horse. she untied her  cloak and let it drop to the ground. She first took off her white blouse and had on a red tank top. As they entered the water, katie almost squealed at the coldness but then sighed in relief. it was hot out and this defiantly cooled her off. Ranger snorted and pushed her forward and then pawed at the water

"Alright, alright" she watched him play and splash. ranger snorted happily and looked at the girl. he reared and splashed water all over her.
"Why you little!" she let go of the reins and Ranger trotted out and bobbed his head. Katie laughed and splashed at the horse. her long hair fell in front of her face. She ran out and chased after the horse who faced her then switched the odds and chased her.
"ok! ok i'm sorry!" she laughed as the horse cornered her against the tree. she looked up and saw a branch. she smirked at her stallion then jumped and pulled herself up. Katie giggled as the horse stared at her

~no fair~ he narrowed his eyes. The girl smirked and flipped back her hair.
"Whats the matter can't climb?" she giggled as she picked a apple and began to munch on it. she was swinging her left leg back and forth. ranger flattened his ears and rolled his eyes. He let out a yawn and drifted into sleep. Katie finished her apple and soon drifted into a little sleep herself. the wind blew softly into her facet. it was peaceful right here, almost safe like. Hopefully.. she wasn't followed...

Arsia ran. She ran and ran and ran. Her heavy footfalls and long stride did not slow one bit. That is until she looked at her feet. Once she had slowly started to come down form her Shock induced adrenaline, she finally looked down. Her rough and calloused feet were soaked in blood, Her Blood. Pain started to ease its way into Arsia, as she fell forward in agony. Crashing into some rough bushes and shrubbery, sharp thorns and barbs pricked Arsia. Arsia continued, as her luck had just ran out as she rolled down a small hill. Tumbling, Arsia had lost all balance and orientation. The small hill steepened as it turned into a large quarry. Arsia exerted all her might to decelerate her roll, but it was not enough, as she careened directly into a pile of rocks; her head slammed into them, instantly knocking her Out. As the Dust and debris from her fall settled, her body lay motionless, save for the small rise and fall of her chest.

Chapter 1 The Gathering Empty Re: Chapter 1 The Gathering

Post by George Sat Jul 19, 2014 4:38 pm

Veran knew the type, having almost expected the young swordsman to have rejected Veran's tasking. The only response that was given as the younger male confirmed his suspicions was a simple "Very well." He would have said more, but there were more pressing matters to be attended to and he continues along his previous trail. He hadn't seen the witch hunter who had silently accepted the quest in the swordsman's stead.

Veran's pace wasn't necessarily fast, more purposeful than anything. All the better to avoid loosing the trail as he follows the barbarian into the forest. He couldn't really tell how far ahead she was, but one thing was for sure, she was bleeding. Blood was starting to mix in with the tracks left behind and making Veran's job easier, though he was sure that Arsia was at all aware of the blood trail she was leaving...then the trail just stopped. "Great!" He says out loud as he looks around, trying to regain the trail. "Just great!" Nothing was going his way at all, but then again the Circle never did say it would be easy.

Veran took a second to orient himself with his surroundings, leaning on his staff until he saw it, a patch within the brush that had be disturbed by what would seem to be a distressed animal, however it was in line with the one Veran was looking for. He moves to the top of the hill, looking down and seeing what he had come for. "Oh....well that's pretty easy."

Chapter 1 The Gathering Empty Re: Chapter 1 The Gathering

Post by Joey Sun Jul 20, 2014 12:07 pm

Seymore cast a light step spell as he walked. Light step was a simple spell that made moving through a forest easier and much quieter. When cast the target of the spell becomes a beacon to their natural surroundings and the environment bends to this beacon. The forest literally cleared a path for Seymore and hid his steps from even the most perceptive. He moved like silk through the brush. Seymore enjoyed a hunt thoroughly. This one, to his dismay, would end in no blood shed, but moving through the forest night was one of his favorite things to do.

He followed the horse's tracks. It was certainly a powerful animal. Seymore thought about speeding his own pace up, but he decided that exerting more energy was unnecessary. His assumption on his pace was correct. Seymore found himself entering a clearing around a pond. He watched for a moment as the young girl and the horse played carelessly. Seymore rested his hand lightly on his silver blade and put on a confident smile. He stepped out of the brush, the light step spell still masking his footsteps.

"You know," he paused and stared at her with his deep yellow eyes that shined in the moonlight. With a grin he continued "its not safe for a girl to be out in the forest alone this time of night. Especially when she just recently lost her bow."

He stepped forward, ever confident "All kinds of evil creatures and crazy folk come out after dark."

PS,OOC: I updated some of Seymore's images in his character app
